MA project‘s introduction

How might the Chinese culture, convention, and condition be applied in the Chinese low-budget comedy script?

1>  Why I need research about this?

      As for my whole study project, I study how might Chinese low-budget comedy film be funnier. I have researched the humor elements in PGC stage (Discoveries); I have tested and explored these humor elements in PGD stage (Application). These studies do work and can make the Chinese low-budget comedy film funnier. However, it is not enough because most audiences of Chinese low-budget comedy film is Chinese, so we should close to them, making sure the plots they are easily accepted and understood. It is a better way that material of comedy script is based on their daily life, including Chinese convention, culture, and social condition. Further more, Terry's theory should be considered," Comedy is partly dependent on convention, culture, and social condition." (Terry, 1990). So the comedy film can be made funnier too if the material of comedy script is according to these three parts. Thus, in the MA stage, this project will try to apply Chinese convention, culture, and social condition into the Chinese low-budget comedy film for closing Chinese audience and making funnier.
